Reconstruction of the
Dorset (Sixpenny Handley) 31-05-2020 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed regular 24-sided polygon of circle 1, pointing up. Draw the 24 rays of this polygon, from the center to its angular points.

3. Construct the inscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.

4. Construct the inscribed circle of dodecagon 3.

5. Construct the inscribed square of circle 4, with horizontal and vertical sides.

6. Construct the inscribed circle of square 5.

7. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 4 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 1 at the righthand side.

8. Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 6 and the horizontal centerline.

9. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 8 at the lefthand side.

10. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 4, pointing to the left.

11. Construct the inscribed circle of triangle 10.

12. Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 11 and the horizontal centerline.

13. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 12 at the righthand side.

14. Construct a circle tangent to the righthand rays 2 just above and below the horizontal centerline, and tangent to circle 11 at the righthand side, from outside, as shown.

15. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 14 at the righthand side.

16. Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 15 and the horizontal centerline.

17. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 16 at the righthand side.

18. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 6 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 17 at the lefthand side.

19. Copy circle 18 to the righthand intersection of circle 11 and the horizontal centerline.

20. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 19 at the lefthand side.

21. Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 20 and the horizontal centerline.

22. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 21 at the lefthand side.

23. Copy circle 18 to the center of circle 1.

24. Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 23 and the horizontal centerline.

25. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 24 at the righthand side.

26. Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the righthand intersections of circles 22 and 23 with the horizontal centerline.

27. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 26.

28. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 4 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 17 at the righthand side.

29. Copy circle 28 to the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.

30. Construct a circle concentric to circle 28, tangent to circle 29 at the lefthand side.

31. Copy circle 30 eleven times, to the corresponding positions with respect to the other angular points of dodecagon 3, as shown.

32. Construct a "two-points" circle between the upper intersections of circles 1 and 4 with the vertical centerline.

33. Copy circle 32 twentyfour times, one to the center of circle 1, the others to the corresponding positions with respect to the other rays 2, as shown.

34. Construct two parallel lines, tangent to circle 32 and the central circle 33 at both sides.

35. Repeat step 34 twentythree times, with respect to the central and all other circles 33, as shown.

36. Circles 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 23, 25, 27, 30, and 31, and lines 34, and 35, are used for the final reconstruction.

37. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
