Reconstruction of the
Thorn Hill 26-06-2017 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed octagon (regular 8-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct the "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the top and the upper righthand angular point of octagon 2.

4. Draw the connecting line between the centers of circles 1 and 3, and extend this line upto circle 1.

5. Construct the inscribed octagon of circle 1, with one angular point on line 4. Number the angular points clockwise 1 - 8, starting at the one on line 4.

6. Draw the eight diagonals of octagon 5, from angular point 1 to 4, 2 to 5 etc.

7. Construct the inscribed circle of (the enclosed octagon of) diagonals 6.

8. Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.

9. Construct a circle (concentric to circle 1) passing through the inner intersections of diagonals 6.

10. Copy circle 9 to the center of circle 8.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 8, tangent to the nearest diagonals 6.

12. Draw the connecting line between the intersection of diagonals 1-4 and 3-8, and the intersection of diagonals 1-6 and 5-8.

13. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to line 12.

14. Copy circle 13 to the center of circle 8.

15. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 11 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 8 at the righthand side.

16. Construct a circle concentric to circle 15, tangent to circle 10 at the righthand side.

17. Copy circles 15 and 16 to the righthand intersection of circle 10 and the horizontal centerline.

18. Construct two circles concentric to circle 8, tangent to circles 17 at the righthand sides.

19. Copy circles 15 and 16 to the righthand intersection of circle 13 and the horizontal centerline.

20. Construct two circles concentric to circle 13, tangent to circles 19 at the righthand sides.

21. Copy circles 8, 10, 11, 14, and 18, to the lefthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.

22. Construct a horizontal line, from the upper intersection of inner circle 20 and the vertical centerline, extending to the left upto circle 1.

23. Construct a circle concentric to circles 21, passing through the intersection of the lefthand side of octagon 5 and line 22.

24. Construct the "two-points" circle between the center of circle 15 and its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

25. Copy circle 24 to the intersection of the righthand side of octagon 5 and the horizontal centerline.

26. Copy circle 16 to the lower intersection of circle 25 and the righthand side of octagon 5.

27. Construct a circle concentric to circle 25, tangent to circle 26 at the upper side.

28. Copy circles 25 and 27 to the intersection of the lefthand side of octagon 5 and the horizontal centerline.

29. Construct four horizontal lines, between the intersections of circles 25 and 27 with the righthand, and the intersections of circles 28 with the lefthand side of octagon 5, as shown.

30. Construct the circumscribed square of circle 1, with the sides horizontally and vertically.

31. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of the inner circle 18 and the righthand side of square 30, tangent to the outer circle 18 at the upper side.

32. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 10 and the righthand side of square 30, tangent to circle 8 at the upper side.

33. Construct a line tangent to circles 31 and 32 at the righthand sides.

34. Copy circles 31 and 32, and line 33, as a whole, while mirroring with respect to the horizontal centerline. See detail.

35. Copy circles 31 and 32, line 33, and pattern 34, as a whole, while mirroring with respect to the vertical centerline. See detail.

36. Construct the "two-points" circle between the lefthand intersections of circles 15 and 16 with the horizontal centerline.

37. Copy circle 36 to the center of circle 1.

38. Circles 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21, 23, 31, 32, and 37, lines 29, and 33, square 30, and patterns 34, and 35, are used for the final reconstruction.

39. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
