Reconstruction of the
Cley Hill 18-07-2017 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing down.

4. Construct the inscribed circle of (the enclosed hexagon of) triangles 2 and 3.

5. Construct the inscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 4, pointing up.

6. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 4, pointing up.

7. Draw six rays, from the center of circle 1 to the angular points of triangles 2 and 3.

8. Copy circle 1 two times, to its righthand intersection with the horizontal, and to its upper intersection with the vertical centerline.

9. Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circles 8.

10. Construct the inscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 1, with one angular point on line 9.

11. Construct a circle centered at the top of triangle 2, passing through the upper righthand angular point of dodecagon 10.

12. Copy circle 11 five times, to the other angular points of triangles 2 and 3.

13. Construct the circumscribed dodecagon of circle 1, pointing up.

14. Construct two "two-points" circles (defined by the two end-points of a centerline), one between the upper righthand angular points of dodecagons 10 and 13, the second similar at the lefthand side (mirrored with respect to the vertical centerline), as shown.

15. Repeat step 14 five times, with respect to circles 12 in stead of circle 11.

16. Construct a circle concentric to circle 11, passing through the upper righthand angular point of dodecagon 13.

17. Copy circle 16 five times, to the centers of circles 12.

18. Construct a circle centered at the top of dodecagon 13, passing through the upper intersections of triangle 2 and dodecagon 10.

19. Copy circle 18 twelve times, to the centers of circles 14 and 15.

20. Construct a circle centered at the top of hexagon 5, tangent to circle 16 at the lower side.

21. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 20 at the upper side.

22. Construct the circumscribed equilateral triangle of circle 21, pointing down.

23. Copy circle 20 to its lower intersection with the vertical centerline.

24. Construct a circle concentric to circle 11, tangent to circle 23 at the lower side.

25. Copy circle 24 five times, to the centers of circles 12.

26. Construct the "two-points" circle between the centers of circles 20 and 23.

27. Copy circle 26 thirteen times, one to the center of circle 1, six to the angular points of triangles 2 and 3, and six to the angular points of hexagon 5.

28. Construct fifteen pairs of parallel lines, six parallel to the sides of hexagon 5, three parallel to the sides of triangle 6, and six parallel to rays 7, all tangent to circles 27 at both sides, as shown. See detail.

29. Circles 1, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 24, and 25, triangles 2, 3, and 22, and lines 28, are used for the final reconstruction.

30. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
