Reconstruction of the
Hackpen Hill 15-07-2013 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed octagon (regular 8-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing to the right.

3. Construct the inscribed circle of octagon 2.

4. Copy circle 3 to its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

5. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 4 at the righthand side.

6. Construct the circumscribed octagon of circle 5, the mid-point of one side on the horizontal centerline.

7. Construct the circumscribed circle of octagon 6.

8. Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the upper intersections of circles 1 and 3 with the vertical centerline.

9. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 8.

10. Copy circle 8 three times, to the other intersections of circle 9 and the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

11. Construct the inscribed octagon of circle 5, pointing to the right.

12. Construct a circle passing through the upper righthand and lower righthand angular points of octagon 11, and passing through the center of circle 8.

13. Construct a circle concentric to circle 12, tangent to circle 8 at the far side.

14. Construct a circle concentric to circle 12, tangent to circle 8 at the near side.

15. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 13.

16. Construct the inscribed octagon of circle 15, pointing to the right.

17. Copy circle 13 two times, to the upper lefthand and lower lefthand angular points of octagon 16.

18. Copy circle 14 two times, to the centers of circles 17.

19. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the lefthand intersection of circles 18.

20. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the righthand intersection of circles 17.

21. Copy circles 13 and 14 another five times, to the other angular points of octagon 16, as shown.

22. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the upper intersection of circle 13 and lower circle 17.

23. Construct the inscribed octagon of circle 22, one angular point coincident with the same intersection (of circle 13 and lower circle 17).

24. Construct a circle centered at the lower lefthand angular point of octagon 23, tangent to lower circle 18 at the upper side.

25. Construct a circle centered at the upper lefthand angular point of octagon 23, tangent to upper circle 18 at the lower side.

26. Copy circle 24 two times, to the lefthand upper and lower angular points of octagon 23.

27. Copy circle 24 another four times, to the other angular points of octagon 23, as shown.

28. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circles 17, passing through the righthand intersection of circles 24 and 25.

29. Copy circle 28 to the center of circle 1.

30. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circles 18, tangent to circle 29 at the righthand side.

31. Copy circle 30 to the center of circle 1.

32. Construct a circle tangent to circles 26 and tangent to circle 30, all at the inner sides.

33. Copy circle 32 to the center of circle 1.

34. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 24 at the near side.

35. Copy circle 34 four times, to the centers of circles 8 and 10.

36. Circles 1, 3, 7, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 31, 33 and 35, are used for the final reconstruction.

37. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
