Reconstruction of the
Yarnbury Castle 28-04-2012 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the circumscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 1, with the midpoint of one side on the horizontal centerline.

3. Draw the diagonal of dodecagon 2 between the two angular points just above the horizontal centerline.

4. Construct the inscribed dodecagon of circle 1, pointing to the right.

5. Construct a circle, centered at the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the intersection of line 3 and the righthand side of dodecagon 4 just above the horizontal centerline.

6. Construct the circumscribed circle of dodecagon 2.

7. Construct a circle concentric to circle 5, tangent to circle 6 at the righthand side.

8. Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 5 and the horizontal centerline.

9. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 8 at the lefthand side.

10. Copy circle 7 to the lefthand intersection of circle 8 and the horizontal centerline.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 5, tangent to circle 10 at the lefthand side.

12. Copy circle 11 five times, the first to its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline, the others to their successive corresponding intersections, as shown.

13. Construct five circles concentric to circle 5, tangent to circles 12 at the lefthand sides.

14. Copy circle 5 five times, to the centers of circles 12.

15. Construct five circles concentric to circle 5, tangent to circles 14 at the lefthand sides.

16. Copy circle 9 to the lower intersection of circle 1 and the largest circle 13.

17. Construct a circle concentric to circle 16, tangent to circle 7 at the upper righthand side.

18. Circles 1, 5, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16 and 17, are used for the final reconstruction.

19. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
