Reconstruction of the
Smeathe's Plantation 24-07-2009 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to the righthand side of hexagon 2.

4. Copy circle 3 eleven times, the first to the righthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline, the others to the corresponding intersections of every last copied circle, as shown.

5. Construct eleven circles concentric to circle 1, passing through the centers of circles 4. Number these circles from inside outwards 1 through 11.

6. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to the rightmost circle 4 at the righthand side.

7. Draw six rays from the center of circle 1 to the angular points of hexagon 2, and extend these up to circle 6.

8. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of circle 5 nr. 3 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to the two righthand rays 7.

9. Copy circle 8 to the righthand intersection of circle 6 and the horizontal centerline, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own corresponding intersection.

10. Copy circle 3 to the righthand intersection of circle 6 and the horizontal centerline.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 9, tangent to circle 10 at the righthand side.

12. Copy circle 11 to the righthand intersection of circle 9 and the horizontal centerline, and move it twice to its own corresponding intersections, as shown.

13. Copy circle 11 to the righthand intersection of circle 12 and the horizontal centerline.

14. Copy circle 8 to the center of circle 13.

15. Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the end-points of a centerline) between the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the intersection of the righthand side of hexagon 2, both with the horizontal centerline.

16. Copy circle 15 to the center of circle 1.

17. Copy circle 3 two times, the first to the righthand intersection of circle 16 and the horizontal centerline, the second to the corresponding intersection of the first.

18. Construct two circles concentric to circle 16, tangent to circles 17 at the righthand sides.

19. Construct the inscribed hexagon of circle 1, pointing to the right.

20. Draw six rays from the center of circle 1 to the angular points of hexagon 19, and extend these up to circle 6. Number these rays and rays 7 counterclockwise, starting with the righthand one a through l.

21. Copy circles 16 and 18 two times, to the intersections of circle 6 with rays a and l.

22. Draw six parallel lines, tangent to circles 16 and 18 and the upper set of circles 21 at both sides, as shown.

23. Draw six parallel lines, tangent to circles 16 and 18 and the lower set of circles 21 at both sides, as shown.

24. Remove from circles 1 and 5 and lines 22 and 23 all parts not visible within the formation itself.

25. Draw twelve rays from the center of circle 1 to the mutual intersections of hexagons 2 and 19, and extend these up to circle 6. Number these rays counterclockwise, starting with the righthand one just above the horizontal centerline m through x.

26. Construct a "two-points" circle between the intersections of circles 5 nrs. 7 and 8 with ray x.

27. Copy circle 3 to the center of circle 26.

28. Copy pattern 24 and circles 26 and 27 as a whole five times, while rotating around the center of circle 1, all 60° apart, as shown.

29. Copy circles 16 and 18 to the intersection of circle 6 and ray b.

30. Draw six parallel lines, tangent to circles 16 and 18 and circles 29 at both sides.

31. Copy circle 3 to the intersection of circle 5 nr. 9 and ray m.

32. Construct a circle concentric to circle 31, passing through the intersection of circle 5 nr. 11 and ray m.

33. Copy circle 15 to the center of circle 31.

34. Draw two parallel lines, tangent to circles 16 and 33 at both sides.

35. Remove from circles 1, 5, 31 and 32 and lines 22, 30 and 34 all parts not visible within the formation itself.

36. Copy pattern 35 two times, while rotating around the center of circle 1, all 120° apart, as shown.

37. Copy circles 16 and 18 to the intersection of circle 6 and ray k.

38. Draw six parallel lines, tangent to circles 16 and 18 and circles 37 at both sides.

39. Copy circle 3 to the intersection of circle 5 nr. 2 and ray w.

40. Construct a circle concentric to circle 39, passing through the intersection of circle 5 nr. 4 and ray w.

41. Remove from circles 1, 5, 39 and 40 and lines 23 and 38 all parts not visible within the formation itself.

42. Copy pattern 41 two times, while rotating around the center of circle 1, all 120° apart, as shown.

43. Copy circle 3 four times, the first to the lefthand intersection of circle 14 and the horizontal centerline, the others to the corresponding intersections of every last copied circle, as shown.

44. Construct four circles concentric to circle 14, tangent to circles 43 at the lefthand sides.

45. Draw two lines, from the righthand intersection of circle 14 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 6 at both sides.

46. Construct four "two-points" circles, between the intersections of the outer pair and inner pair of circles 44 and lines 45, as shown.

47. Draw four lines, from the center of circle 14 to the centers of circles 46, and extend these lines up to the next greater circle 44.

48. Remove from circles 44 and lines 47 all parts not visible within the formation itself.

49. Copy circles 9 and 11 to the righthand intersection of circle 14 and the horizontal centerline.

50. Copy circle 3 to the lefthand intersection of inner circle 49 and the horizontal centerline.

51. Construct a circle concentric to circles 49, tangent to circle 50 at the righthand side.

52. Copy circles 16 and 18 to the center of circle 51.

53. Draw six parallel lines, tangent to circles 16 and 18 and circles 52 at both sides.

54. Copy circle 3 two times, to the leftmost intersection of pattern 48, and the righthand intersection of circle 9, both with the horizontal centerline.

55. Construct two circles, one concentric to circle 14, tangent to the righthand circle 54 at the lefthand side, the other concentric to circle 9, tangent to the lefthand circle 54 at the righthand side.

56. Construct four "two-points" circles between the intersections of the upper and lower pairs of lines 53 with circles 55, as shown.

57. Draw two parallel lines, between the centers of the lefthand and the righthand pairs of circles 56, and extend these lines up to the outer lines 53, as shown.

58. Construct a "two-points" circle between the center of circle 9 and its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

59. Construct a "two-points" circle between the righthand intersections of circles 11 and 58 with the horizontal centerline.

60. Construct a "two-points" circle between the center of circle 59 and the lefthand intersection of circle 9 with the horizontal centerline.

61. Construct a "two-points" circle between the lefthand intersections of circle 13 and outer circle 49 with the horizontal centerline.

62. Construct a "two-points" circle between the center of circle 61 and the righthand intersection of circle 14 with the horizontal centerline.

63. Copy circle 15 four times, to the intersections of circles 59 and 60 and of circles 61 and 62.

64. Remove from circles 6, 9, 11, 13, 14, 49, 51, 58 and 63, pattern 48 and lines 53 and 57, all parts not visible within the formation itself.

65. Copy pattern 64 eleven times, while rotating around the center of circle 1, all 30° apart, as shown.

66. Copy circle 3 to the righthand intersection of circle 10 and the horizontal centerline.

67. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 66 at the righthand side.

68. Extend rays 25 up to circle 67.

69. Copy circle 3 twelve times, to the intersections of circle 67 and lines 68.

70. Circles 26, 28 and 69 and patterns 24, 28, 35, 36, 41, 42, 64 and 65, make up the final reconstruction.
