Reconstruction of the
West Kennett Long Barrow 9-06-2008 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the circumscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline, passing through the upper righthand (and lefthand) angular point of hexagon 2.

4. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline, tangent to circle 3 at the lower side.

5. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline, tangent to circle 4 at the upper side.

6. Copy circle 1 to the lower intersection of circle 5 and the vertical centerline.

7. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 6 at the lower side.

8. Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 1 at the righthand side.

9. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 8 at the lefthand side.

10. Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 9 at the righthand side.

11. From circles 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10, remove all parts except those that yield the figure 9-shaped spiral, as shown.

12. Taking the center of circle 7 as a reference point, copy spiral 11, and rotate it clockwise over 90°.

13. Taking the center of circle 7 as a reference point, copy spiral 11, and rotate it over 180°.

14. Taking the center of circle 7 as a reference point, copy spiral 11, and rotate it clockwise over 270°.

15. Draw a line from the center of circle 7 to the outermost end-point of spiral 11.

16. Remove the outer end of spiral 12 extending from line 15 to the left. Remove both ends from line 15 outside the borderlines of the outer part of spiral 12, as shown.

17. Draw a line from the center of circle 7 to the outermost end-point of spiral 13.

18. Remove the outer end of spiral 14 extending from line 17 to the right. Remove both ends from line 17 outside the borderlines of the outer part of spiral 14, as shown.

19. Create 60 evenly spaced rays of circle 7, the first from the center to the righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline; number the rays counterclockwise, starting from nr.1, as shown.

20. Remove from rays 19 nrs. 2 to 10, and nrs. 32 to 40. Remove from nrs. 11 to 31 both ends outside the borderlines of the upper part of spiral 18. Remove from nrs. 41 to 1 both ends outside the borderlines of the lower part of spiral 16. As shown.

21. Create 48 evenly spaced rays of circle 7, the first from the center to the righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline; number the rays counterclockwise, starting from nr.1, as shown.

22. Remove from rays 21 nrs. 14 to 25, and nrs. 38 to 1. Remove from nrs. 2 to 13 both ends outside the borderlines of the upper righthand part (first quadrant) of spiral 16. Remove from nrs. 26 to 37 both ends outside the borderlines of the lower lefthand part (third quadrant) of spiral 18. As shown.

23. Create 36 evenly spaced rays of circle 7, the first from the center to the righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline; number the rays counterclockwise, starting from nr.1, as shown.

24. Remove from rays 23 nrs. 2 to 10, and nrs. 20 to 28. Remove from nrs. 11 to 19 both ends outside the borderlines of the upper lefthand part (second quadrant) of spiral 16. Remove from nrs. 29 to 1 both ends outside the borderlines of the lower righthand part (fourth quadrant) of spiral 18. As shown.

25. Create 24 evenly spaced rays of circle 7, the first from the center to the righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline; number the rays counterclockwise, starting from nr.1, as shown.

26. Remove from rays 25 nrs. 10 to 13, and nrs. 22 to 1. Remove from nrs. 2 to 9 both ends outside the borderlines of the innermost part of spiral 18 above the horizontal centerline. Remove from nrs. 14 to 21 both ends outside the borderlines of the innermost part of spiral 16 below the horizontal centerline. As shown.

27. Circle 7, spirals 11, 13, 16 and 18, and remaining lines 20, 22, 24, and 26, make up the final reconstruction.
