Reconstruction of the
Winterbourne Monkton 23-05-2007 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed pentagon (regular 5-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct the inscribed circle of pentagon 2.

4. Construct the inscribed pentagon of circle 3, pointing up.

5. Construct the inscribed pentagon of (the inscribed circle of) pentagon 4, pointing down.

6. Construct the inscribed circle of pentagon 5.

7. Draw the diagonal of pentagon 2, from the top to the lower lefthand angular point.

8. Draw the diagonal of pentagon 2, from the top to the lower righthand angular point.

9. Finish the inscribed pentagram of pentagon 2 by drawing the other diagonals.

10. Construct the circumscribed circle of the enclosed pentagon of pentagram 7-8-9.

11. Copy circle 10 to the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.

12. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 11 at the righthand side. Move it (copy and delete original) to the intersection of line 7 and the horizontal centerline.

13. Copy circle 6 to the righthand intersection of circle 11 and the horizontal centerline.

14. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 13 at the righthand side.

15. Copy circle 10 to the righthand intersection of circle 13 and the horizontal centerline.

16. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 15 at the righthand side. Move it to the intersection of line 8 and the horizontal centerline.

17. Copy circle 6 to the righthand intersection of circle 15 and the horizontal centerline.

18. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 17 at the righthand side.

19. Copy circle 10 to the center of circle 17.

20. Copy circle 6 to the righthand intersection of circle 19 and the horizontal centerline.

21. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 20 at the righthand side. Move it to the intersection of line 7 and the horizontal centerline.

22. Copy circle 6 to the righthand intersection of circle 20 and the horizontal centerline.

23. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 22 at the righthand side.

24. Copy circle 10 to the center of circle 22. Move it to its own righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

25. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 24 at the righthand side.

26. Only circles 1, 3, 6, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23 and 25 are needed for the final reconstruction.
