Reconstruction of the
Wouldham 4-07-2006 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing to the right.

3. Copy circle 1 three times, to the angular points of triangle 2.

4. Complete the flower-of-life pattern, by copying circle 1 another three times, to the (outer) intersections of circles 3.

5. Construct the inscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing to the right.

6. Construct the inscribed circle of dodecagon 5.

7. Copy circle 6 six times, to the centers of circles 3 and 4.

8. Draw a line from the lefthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, to the upper right outer intersection of (two adjacent) circles 7, as shown.

9. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to line 8.

10. Draw three rays, from the center of circle 1 to the angular points of triangle 2. Extend these lines up to circles 3.

11. Copy circle 9 three times, to the outer intersections of circles 3 and rays 10, as shown.

12. Construct the circumscribed dodecagon of circle 1, the righthand side perpendicular to the horizontal centerline.

13. Construct the circumscribed circle of dodecagon 12.

14. Copy circle 13 six times, to the centers of circles 7.

15. Circles 1, 7, 11 and 14 are the only elements needed for the final reconstruction.

16. Remove all superfluous parts not visible in the formation itself.
