Reconstruction of the Avebury Trusloe 30-06-2006 formation
1. | Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2. | Copy circle 1 to its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own righthand intersection. Repeat this four times (with respect to each last moved circle), to create a series of five circles on a row tangent to each other.
3. | Copy circle 1 to the righthand intersection of the rightmost circle 2 and the horizontal centerline, and move it to its own righthand intersection.
4. | Construct six circles, all centered on the horizontal centerline, all tangent to circle 3 at the righthand side, and tangent to circle 1 and consecutive circles 2 at the lefthand sides, as shown.
5. | Copy circle 1 to the righthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline.
6. | Construct a circle centered on the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 3 at the righthand side and tangent to circle 5 at the lefthand side.
7. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 6, tangent to circle 1 at the lefthand side.
8. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 5, tangent to circle 1 at the lefthand side.
9. | Construct a line perpendicular to the horizontal centerline, passing through the righthand intersection of circle 7 and the horizontal centerline. Extend this line in both directions up to circle 8.
10. | Draw two lines, from the center of circle 8 to its intersections with line 9.
11. | Construct six circles, all concentric to circle 8, tangent to circle 1 and consecutive circles 2 at the righthand sides.
12. | Draw the six connecting lines, between the pairs of intersections of circles 11 and lines 10. These lines divide the horizontal centerline between the center of circle 5 and the righthand intersection of circle 7 into seven equal parts.
13. | Construct six circles, all centered on the horizontal centerline, all tangent to circle 1 at the lefthand side and tangent to consecutive lines 12.
14. | Copy circle 1 eight times, to create a series of eight circles on a row to the left, tangent to each other and to the lefthand side of circle 1, like in step 2, as shown.
15. | Copy circle 1 to the lefthand intersection of the leftmost circle 14 and the horizontal centerline, and move it to its own lefthand intersection.
16. | Construct eight circles, all centered on the horizontal centerline, all tangent to circle 15 at the lefthand side, and tangent to consecutive circles 14 at the righthand sides.
17. | Construct a circle centered at the lefthand intersection of circle 15 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 1 at the lefthand side.
18. | Copy the largest circle 16 to the center of circle 17.
19. | Copy the largest circle 16 to the lefthand intersection of circle 18 and the horizontal centerline.
20. | Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circles 18 and 19.
21. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 18, tangent to line 20.
22. | Copy circle 21 to its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.
23. | Draw the connecting line between the intersections of circles 21 and 22.
24. | Construct a circle centered on the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 22 at the righthand side and tangent to line 23. The diameter of this circle is one eighth the radius of circle 17.
25. | Copy circle 24 six times, to create a series of six circles on a row to the left, tangent to each other, and to the lefthand side of circle 24, like in step 2, as shown.
26. | Construct seven circles, all centered on the horizontal centerline, all tangent to circle 1 at the lefthand side, and tangent to circle 24 and consecutive circles 25 at the lefthand sides.
27. | Circles 3, 4, 7, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 26 make up all constituent parts of the reconstruction. High resolution dwf-file
