Reconstruction of the
Boxley 17-07-2005 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Copy circle 1 to the upper angular point of triangle 2.

4. Copy circle 1 twice, to the other two angular points of triangle 2.

5. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing down.

6. Construct two diagonals of the six-pointed star, formed by triangles 2 and 5, by connecting the lower left and upper right, and the lower right and upper left angular points of triangles 2 and 5, respectively, and extend these lines in both directions.

7. Construct a circle centered at the lower angular point of triangle 5, tangent to both diagonals 6.

8. Copy circle 7 twice, to the other two angular points of triangle 5.

9. Construct the inscribed circle of triangle 5.

10. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 9, pointing up.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 7, tangent to the lower side of triangle 10.

12. Copy circle 11 twice, to the centers of circles 8.

13. Construct a circle, tangent to circle 1 at the righthand side, and tangent to the righthand sides of triangles 2 and 5.

14. Copy circle 13 to the center of circle 11.

15. Copy circle 13 twice, to the centers of circles 12.

16. Construct the circumscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing up.

17. Construct a circle centered at the lower righthand angular point of triangle 16, tangent to circle 3 at the lower righthand side.

18. Copy circle 17 twice, to the other two angular points of triangle 16.

19. Copy circle 13 to the common intersection of circles 3 and 4 (the origin).

20. Construct a circle concentric to circle 17, tangent to circle 19 at the upper lefthand side.

21. Copy circle 20 twice, to the centers of circles 18.

22. Construct a circle concentric to circle 20, tangent to circle 11 at the lefthand side.

23. Copy circle 22 twice, to the centers of circles 21.

24. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 7 and the vertical centerline, tangent to both circles 15 at the lower sides.

25. Copy circle 24 twice, to the outer intersections of circles 8 and diagonals 6.

26. Construct a (small) circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 7 and the vertical centerline, tangent to circle 11 at the lower side.

27. Copy circle 26 to the lower intersection of circle 22 and lower circle 23.

28. Copy circle 26 twice, to the upper intersections of upper circle 23 and diagonals 6.

29. Construct a circle concentric to circle 22, tangent to circle 27 at the upper righthand side.

30. Copy circle 29 twice, to the centers of circles 23.

31. Construct the inscribed circle of triangle 10.

32. Copy circle 31 to the center of circle 27.

33. Copy circle 31 twice, to the centers of circles 28.

34. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 17 and lower circle 21, passing through the center of circle 32.

35. Copy circle 34 five times, to the corresponding intersections of circle 17 and upper circle 21, circles 18 and circle 20 and circles 18 and 21, as shown.

36. Construct a circle concentric to circle 34, tangent to circle 27 at the upper righthand side.

37. Copy circle 36 five times, to the centers of circles 35.

38. Construct a circle centered at the upper angular point of triangle 2, tangent to both upper circles 35 at the near sides, as shown.

39. Copy circle 38 three times, to the centers of circles 32 and 33.

40. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 36 and lower circle 37, tangent to lower circle 39 at the lower side.

41. Copy circle 40 to the center of circle 32.

42. Copy circle 40 twice, to the centers of circles 33.

43. Construct a circle concentric to circle 32, tangent to circle 40 at the upper side.

44. Copy circle 43 twice, to the centers of circles 33.

45. Construct a circle concentric to circle 34, tangent to circle 40 at the lower lefthand side.

46. Copy circle 45 five times, to the centers of circles 35.

47. Circles 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46, together, make up the necessary ingredients for the final reconstruction.

48. Leaving out everything not visible within the formation itself, ...

The final result, matched with the aerial image, fits fairly well in most places, but not perfectly everywhere.
