Reconstruction of the
Fort Nelson 11-06-2004 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed decagon (regular 10-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing to the left.

3. Construct the inscribed pentagram (regular five-pointed star) of circle 1, by connecting every fourth angular point of decagon 2, consecutively, starting at the rightmost one.

4. Construct the inscribed circle of pentagram 3.

5. Copy circle 4 to the leftmost angular point of decagon 2.

6. Construct the circumscribed decagon of circle 1, pointing up.

7. Construct the circumscribed circle of decagon 6.

8. Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 5 and the horizontal centerline.

9. Copy circle 7 another time, to the lefthand intersection of circle 8 and the horizontal centerline.

10. Draw and extend the vertical centerline of circle 9.

11. Draw the connecting line between both intersections of circles 1 and 9.

12. Construct a circle centered on the horizontal centerline, passing through the lefthand intersection of circle 1, and the intersection of line 11, both with the horizontal centerline, as shown.

13. Copy circle 12 to the center of circle 9.

14. Copy circle 13 ten times, the first to its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline, the second to the righthand intersection of the first with the horizontal centerline, and so on, as shown.

15. Construct a circle concentric to circle 13, passing through the righthand intersection of the leftmost circle 14 with the horizontal centerline.

16. Construct nine circles, all concentric to circle 13 (and to each other), passing through the righthand intersections of all subsequent circles 14 (thus except the leftmost one) with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off all lower halves from these circles.

17. Construct a circle centered at the horizontal centerline, passing through the lefthand intersection of circle 13, and the righthand intersection of the leftmost circle 14, both with the horizontal centerline. Trim off the upper half.

18. Construct nine circles, all concentric to circle 17 (and to each other), passing through the righthand intersections of all subsequent circles 14 with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off all upper halves.

19. Copy circle 15 to its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

20. Draw the connecting line between both intersections of circles 15 and 19.

21. Draw two lines, from the center of circle 13 to both intersections of the first and second circles 14 to the left.

22. Construct the inscribed circle of the equilateral triangle enclosed by lines 20 and 21.

23. Copy circle 13 to the center of circle 22.

24. Copy circle 13 nine times, the first to the righthand intersection of circle 23 and the horizontal centerline, the second to the righthand intersection of the first with the horizontal centerline, and so on, like circles 14, as shown.

25. Construct ten circles, all concentric to circle 13 (and to each other), passing through the righthand intersections of circle 23 and consecutive circles 24 with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off all lower halves.

26. Construct a circle concentric to circle 13, passing through the center of circle 22.

27. Construct eleven circles concentric to circle 17, passing through the lefthand intersections of circle 26 and consecutive circles 25, all with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off all upper halves.

28. Construct a circle centered on the horizontal centerline, passing through the lefthand intersection of the outermost circle 16, and the righthand intersection of the outermost circle 27, both with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off the lower half.

29. Copy circle 22 to the center of circle 13.

30. Copy circle 22 to its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

31. Construct a circle concentric to circle 30, tangent to circle 22 at the righthand side.

From circles 13, 15 and 26, trim off the lower halves, from circles 30 and 31, trim off the upper halves, as shown.

32. Construct a circle concentric to circle 12, tangent to the two adjacent sides of decagon 2.

33. Copy circle 32 to the center of circle 1.

34. Copy circle 33 to its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

35. Draw the connecting line between both intersections of circles 33 and 34.

36. Construct a circle concentric to circle 33, tangent to line 35.

37. Copy circle 33 to the intersection of line 35 and the horizontal centerline.

38. Copy circle 33 nine times, the first to the righthand intersection of circle 37, the second to the righthand intersection of the first, and so on, all with the horizontal centerline, as shown.

39. Construct ten circles, all concentric to circle 33 (and to each other), passing through the righthand intersections of circle 37 and consecutive circles 38 with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off all lower halves from these circles.

40. Construct nine circles, all concentric to circle 37 (and to each other), passing through the righthand intersections of consecutive circles 38 with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off all upper halves.

41. Copy circle 33 eight times, the first to the righthand intersection of circle 34, the second to the righthand intersection of the first, and so on, all with the horizontal centerline, as shown.

42. Construct nine circles, all concentric to circle 33 (and to each other), passing through the righthand intersections of circle 34 and consecutive circles 41 with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off all lower halves.

43. Construct a circle concentric to circle 37, tangent to circle 34 at the righthand side.

44. Construct eight circles, all concentric to circle 43 (and to each other), passing through the righthand intersections of consecutive circles 41 with the horizontal centerline, as shown. Trim off all upper halves.

45. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of line 35 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 33 at the righthand side.

46. Copy circle 43 to the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.

From circle 33, trim off the lower half, from circles 37 and 43, trim off the upper halves, as shown.

47. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 46 at the righthand side.

48. Draw two lines, from the lefthand intersection of the outermost circle 39 and the horizontal centerline, to both intersections of circles 1 and 9, and extend these up to circle 8.

49. Construct a circle concentric to circle 9, passing through the intersections of circle 47 and lines 48.

50. Copy circle 46 four times, to its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline, to both intersections of circles 47 and 49, and to the lefthand intersection of circle 49 and the horizontal centerline.

51. Construct the circumscribed undecagon (regular 11-sided polygon) of circle 9, pointing up.

52. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 9 and vertical centerline 10, passing through the upper angular point of undecagon 51.

53. Copy circle 52 four times, to the centers of circles 50.

54. Construct a circle half the (diameter-)size of circle 52, centered on vertical centerline 10, passing through the center of circle 52 and its lower intersection with the same centerline 10.

55. Copy circle 54 four times, to the upper intersection of upper circle 50 and to the lower intersection of lower circle 50 with lines 48, to the lefthand intersection of leftmost circle 50, and to the righthand intersection of rightmost circle 50 with the horizontal centerline.

56. Circles and half circles 1, 9, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, 36, 37, 39, 40, 42, 43, 44, 45, 53 and 55, and the horizontal centerline make up all necessary parts for the final reconstruction.

57. Cut off and leave out all parts not visible within the formation itself.
