Reconstruction of the
Windmill Hill (3) 22-06-2003 formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed pentagon (regular 5-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing up.

3. Construct a circle centered at the top angular point of pentagon 2, passing through its bottom two angular points.

4. Copy circle 3 four times, to the remaining angular points of pentagon 2.

5. Construct a circle concentric to circle 3, tangent to circle 1 at the lower side.

6. Copy circle 5 four times, to the centers of circles 4.

7. Construct the inscribed circle of pentagon 2.

8. Draw the five diagonals of pentagon 2, to form the inscribed pentagram.

9. From the center of circle 1, draw the five rays of pentagon 2, to its angular points.

10. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of the upper (horizontal) diagonal 8 and upper (vertical) ray 9, tangent to circle 7 at the upper side.

11. Copy circle 10 four times, to the remaining (inner) intersections of diagonals 8 and rays 9.

12. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the mutual (inner) intersections of diagonals 8.

13. Construct a circle centered at the intersection of upper ray 9 and circle 12, tangent to circle 12 at the lower side (passing through the lower (inner) intersection of diagonals 8).

14. Copy circle 13 four times, to the remaining intersections of rays 9 and circle 12.

15. Construct a circle centered at the lower (inner) intersection of diagonals 8, passing through the upper intersection of the lower two circles 14.

16. Construct a circle centered at the upper angular point of pentagon 2, tangent to circle 15 at the lower side.

17. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 16 at the upper side.

18. Circles 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 17 make up the necessary ingredients for the reconstruction.

19. Leave out the relevant parts, not visible in the formation itself.

The final result, matched with the aerial image, fits very well.
