Reconstruction of the Barbury Castle 24-07-2002 formation |
|||||
1. | Draw a circle. | ||||
2. | Draw the right half of the horizontal centerline (ray nr. 0).
3. | Copy line 2 (ray nr. 0) 23 times (24 in total) and divide all rays evenly around circle 1.
4. | Construct a circle tangent to circle 1 at the inner side, tangent to line 2 (ray nr. 0), and tangent to ray nr. 1 (counted counterclockwise).
5. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 4.
6. | Construct a circle with its center on the vertical ray up (nr. 6), passing through the center of circle 1 and tangent to circle 5 (at the inner side).
7. | Copy circle 6 5 times (6 in total) and divide all six evenly around circle 1 (with centers on every fourth ray).
8. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 6, tangent to circle 1 (at the inner side).
9. | Copy circle 8 5 times (6 in total) and divide all six evenly around circle 1.
10. | Copy circle 6 to the center of circle 1.
11. | Copy circle 6 another time, to the intersection of circle 10 and ray nr. 7, as shown.
12. | Copy circle 11 5 times (6 in total) and divide all six evenly around circle 1 (with centers on every fourth ray).
13. | Copy circle 8 two times, to the center of circle 11 (on ray nr. 7), and to the center of the upper right circle 7 (on ray nr. 2).
14. | Copy circle 8 another time to the upper right intersection of circles 13.
15. | Copy circle 14 5 times (6 in total) and divide all six evenly around circle 1.
16. | Copy circle 1 to the end-point of line 2 (ray nr. 0).
17. | Copy circle 16 5 times (6 in total) and divide all six evenly around circle 1.
18. | Copy circle 5 to the center of circle 16.
19. | Copy circle 18 5 times (6 in total) and divide all six evenly around circle 1.
20. | Copy circle 1 another time to the upper right intersection of circle 16 and upper right circle 17.
21. | Copy circle 20 5 times (6 in total) and divide all six evenly around circle 1.
22. | Extend rays nrs. 0 and 6 until they intersect circles 15 (on the right) and 14, respectively.
23. | Copy circle 6 two more times, to the end-points of both extended rays 22.
24. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 23 on the right, at the right side.
25. | Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to upper circle 23, at the upper side.
26. | Circles 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, and 25 are all needed to finish the reconstruction.
27. | Cut away all parts of circles 16, 20 and 25, and circles 1, 17 (upper right) and 18, respectively, until two "islands" remain, as shown (shaded).
28. | Do the same for circles 5, 9 (lower right) and 15 (right), and circles 7 (lower right), 10 and 12 (upper right), until two smaller "islands" remain, as shown (shaded).
29. | Repeat steps 27 and 28 for all other corresponding circles. High resolution dwf-file
30. | Colouring all "islands" green, corresponding to standing crop...
30. | ...or just the opposite, colouring flattened crop, finishes the reconstruction of the Barbury Castle 24-07-2002 formation.
